Long Island National, a Robert Trent Jones course opened in 1999, combines links-style holes with traditional course design elements. There are rolling hills and plenty of fescue to get in your way, along with 55 bunkers and three lakes.
This course rewards the shotmaker. Fescue rough lines each hole and awkward lies are common due to the hilly fairways. Small, undulating greens are another trademark. The finishing hole is a 590-yard, par-5 that featuries a slight dogleg to the left and a green protected by sand bunkers in front and fescue in the rear.
